FUN DIY Ideas:
Here are some easy & fun DIY projects to try!
Decorated Oil Bottles!
How cute is this?! This was shared in one of my favorite Facebook oil groups, grow. Here’s what was shared:
“Last year I cut off the tips of mini gloves, rolled the raw edge, and glued a pom pom on the top for displays. This was well received as people even asked to have a hat with the bottle of oil they ordered so I gave hats for each bottle. Minor expense on my end, decorated gift for them to give!
Mini gloves are just thin gloves that you can get for super cheap at department stores or dollar stores. The pom-poms are found in either craft sections or Christmas sections of dollar stores, department store kids or holiday section, or Michaels/craft stores. Usually mittens are around $1 per pair and pom-poms are around $1-2 for a pkg of 100 assorted sizes.” – Jennifer Bohay
Then, someone posted this!! That little sleigh is from the Dollar Tree! Great easy idea for teacher’s gifts or anyone! Super cute & easy!
DIY Garbage Disposal Fresheners
Ever wonder what that funky smell is coming from your kitchen sink? We’re not exactly sure what it is either, but we do have the solution—DIY garbage disposal fresheners!
This easy DIY takes less than an hour, including cleanup! It’s all-natural and completely safe for the environment, and the fresheners will make your disposal smell as fresh and clean as a meadow of daisies!
Supplies:
- 1 cup baking soda
- ¾ cup liquid Castile soap
- ½ cup salt
- 30 drops essential oil
- ¼ cup water
- Measuring spoon (we used a tablespoon)
Yield: approx. thirty 1-inch fresheners
Directions:
1. Combine baking soda and salt in a bowl.
2. Add Castile soap and essential oils. See our scent ideas below!
3. Add water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the mixture reaches the texture of wet sand.
YL tip: If you add too much water, the mixture won’t pack together or dry properly. Add more baking soda and salt to get the texture of wet sand.
4. Pack the mixture into the measuring spoon.
YL tip: To get your freshener out of the measuring spoon, tap the spoon lightly on the counter until the contents slide out. Be careful! The mixture hasn’t dried yet, so it might be fragile.
5. Let the fresheners dry for about 24 hours.
6. Store in a sealed glass jar, and keep dry.
To use:
Put 1-3 fresheners in your garbage disposal. Turn the faucet on a steady cold stream, and run the disposal for up to one minute.
Four tips for keeping your garbage disposal fresh:
- Run it often, even when there’s nothing in it, to keep all its parts moving.
- Always use cold water—hot water can melt grease, which causes clogs.
- Avoid putting certain things down there, like grease, bones, large fruit pits, and foods that expand when wet, like rice or pasta.
- Grind small pieces of food thoroughly by running the disposal for longer than you think—a few seconds doesn’t cut it.

DIY Linen Spray
Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need trendy decor or expensive candles to create the right mood. And while a carefully crafted playlist can add to the ambiance, there’s an even easier way to restore balance, wake up the wanderlust, or freshen your outlook: aromatherapy. Aromatherapy is a mood master. The right scent can transport you to faraway places, help you relive magical moments, or boost your motivation. Set the mood—or cater to your current one—with a bottle of essential oil-infused DIY linen spray.
How to make DIY linen spray
Whether your state of mind calls for the soothing scent of Clary Sage or the heartening aroma of Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood™**, you can answer the call with a quick and easy DIY linen spray.
Ingredients
4 ounces distilled water
2 ounces witch hazel or rubbing alcohol
35-45 drops essential oil
Instructions
1. Put witch hazel or rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle.*
2. Add essential oils (see below for scent ideas).
3. Add water and shake well.
4. Lightly mist your linens.
*Because oil and water don’t mix, witch hazel and rubbing alcohol act as emulsifiers to help the ingredients combine.
YL tip: Always shake your linen spray before using it to maximize the scent.
Question: Do essential oils stain?
Some oils have a naturally dark color due to their constituents. Check out our guide on which essential oils stain before spritzing with those scents.
To play it safe, go with these tried and tested linen spray recipes. The oils are diluted enough that they shouldn’t stain your linens. We tested these sprays on clean, white tissues to ensure they didn’t leave a trace of anything other than a lovely scent. We still recommend doing a spot test before using the sprays to make sure they won’t discolor table runners and terrycloth towels.
